Re: help

thank you! Can you go download version 1 of the application and look at the phone code there. It just updates the server without getting a map so that should do what you need.

thanks alot nick...im sory i have another problem...lets assume that a person downloads the software and transfers his/hers location to my server......what i feel is now when he/she logs into the site, the person should be able to view his/her route only...its not required to view someone elses route..so to do this i need to create a user registration and login method so each person can view his/her route uniquely...and simillarly the mobile application should be slightly edited so that it asks for the username and password...if the login id exists in the database it should start transmitting the location.....i hope this is a good idea ...and to do this im not that good in programming...so if i could get to do this with your help i would be really happy and thankfull....

Re: help

In order to do this you need a way to manage users on your website. I recommend using an open source CMS (content managements system). If you are working with .NET, I would use DotNetNuke:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/

If you are working with the LAMP stack, the I would recommend drupal or joomla:

http://drupal.org/

http://www.joomla.org/

You need to choose one and then start working with it. I use DotNetNuke. There are number of books that you can find on Amazon to get you started with these products. They are open-source (meaning free) and have very large active user communities to help you get started.
